Houston, Texas (April 19,2016) – Congratulations to Boyd Ramsey, Technical Director Asia-Pacific. Boyd was
awarded the IGS Chapter Service Award North America for outstanding leadership efforts and energy as
Chair for the "Educate the Educators" program. Boyd was recognized during a ceremony at GeoAmericas 2016.
The official statement from IGS reads:
"The Board of Directors of IGS-NA, the North American Chapter for the IGS, has unanimously selected Mr. Boyd Ramsey, GSE Environmental, to receive the North American Chanpter Service Award for his outstanding leadership efforts and energy orchestrating "Educate the Educators" in Austin, TX on July 28-29, 2015.
The primary goal of the event was to teach every participant how to offer at least one 50 minute class on geosynthetics at the undergraduate level. Forty-five professors participated of which 45% has 6 or fewer years of experience, 25% has 7-10 years of experience, and 30% has 11 or more years of experience.
This led to excellent exchanges between the participants on education content and delivery method. Over half of the group were somewhat or less familiar with geosynthetics -- exactly the target group to expand geosynthetics' education. Those very familiar with geosynthetics contributed their expertise and ideas in small group discussions and received the latest state-of-the-practice content on wall and slope reimforcement, road and pavement applications, and environmental protection. This important event would not have happened without the stellar leadership of Mr. Boyd Ramsey."
Boyd recently accpeted a new role at GSE after serving more than 18 years in various positions. He currently leads the technical team while promoting the use of geosynthetics and building GSE's relationship with specification bodies, consulting engineers and the relevant government agencies in the APAC region. Boyd relocated to Suzhou, China where GSE recently built a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. He can be reached by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or on his mobile phone at 281-797-6183.
